The Garmin fenix 5 series now boasts three sizes (fenix 5s, fenix 5 and fenix 5X), as opposed to fenix 3’s one. One of these new models—the Fenix 5s— better accommodates women athletes or anyone looking for a more compact size, as the new fenix 5s is nearly 10mm smaller in dimension vs Fenix 3. And we should note that even the more classic fenix 5 is 4mm less in width vs fenix 3, giving a more streamlined look and less weighty feel. All these are free….. And optimised for Garmin devices…. Great for hiking etc…
The link below, just choose your tiles and your away, this map is good for street routes, but has contour maps, I'd suggest just uploading the transparent contour map from here….

This one below is a great map to… You can change the map type to "small" for your watch… Just follow the instructions….
Ps… Remember to rename your map's before you upload them to your watch, as you need to distinguish between them….

Hi JR's On the merge to get a new Gamin Fenix 5X Sapphir and was wondering if I will be able to load the maps from Canada if it the USA maps that are preloaded ?
FYI. I have recently downloaded the UK Garmin contours (as described in video) to my Fenix 6 Titanium Sapphire. I dragged the .IMG file into the “GARMIN” folder, not the “NEW FILES” folder and it works. I overlay the contours over the top of my Talky Toaster maps (which are also excellent – however the grey contours can be hard to see at times). These separate contours are dark brown, so much clearer to read. With these contours, in conjunction with the Talky Toaster maps, the watch is now as it should be out of the box. Very happy. Cheers

Thanks for the video. Do you know if you can install a number of the maps and contours from http://garmin.opentopomap.org whilst keeping the watch stable? I read on Talkytoaster’s website that you can only have one of his maps installed otherwise the device might brick.

Is it possible to get Contour map for india ?? If so, can you please make a video for the same with links of the map !
If it is Europe or americas the topo maps are pre loaded on 5x. Start any activity that uses map function flip through the widgets to map and bingo. Just doesn't show topo for driving or explore mode because it's not really needed, gives you better render speed by dropping topo.

Hi Jon. Silly question but with my 5x I don’t need any other maps other than AFRICA. How do I creat space for the open maps by removing the preinstalled ones and keeping them safe if in case I do use them in future ?
