  2. That’s how I do mine. Really gonna look into that rabbit tool tho. Thanks great video

  3. Good sir, your video saved my hairline. I had a real head scratcher going on trying to figure what was binding the locking mechanism. That hole was the perfect find in the nick of time. Great tip!

  4. U rock. Super neat and meticulous. Wish you lived nearby so I could hire you!

  5. Wow great now i have to buy another tool πŸ˜‚

  6. What was the trick to getting the vertical cut started at 0:25. It looks so crisp!

  7. Do you align the center of the mortise plate with the little ice thin you made?

  8. You think this will work with a hollow core door?

  9. That little plane is AWESOME! Didn't know they existed. Nice work – as usual.

  10. I don't know why anyone else bothers making videos with you around Spencer. Short, clear, to the point, clever and almost always with an approach that makes things worlds easier. Thanks.

  11. Order that planer…….check.

    Thanks

  12. The importance of using the utility knife to score around the strike plate 1/8 depth should be explained. When you use the router to plane the wood, it prevents splintering of the wood around the parameters of the cutout.

  13. Very nice tools and easy for handling, can you tell me where can found it ?

  14. Where on the door should you cutout for the hardware?

  15. What happened to be your measurements for your cut off the door?

  16. Hi! Question: the pocket door hardware I have shakes every time another door is closed in my apartment. I noticed the actual lock on the hardware is loose but can't figure out how to tighten it so it doesn't rattle. Any idea?

  17. I always appreciate an insightful and to the point video with good directions and tips.

  18. They got hardware that goes in round holes too so you can use the same jig for all the doors

  19. @0:32 I'm trying to do the same. What is that bit you're using to drill the hole and what size is it?

  20. u should get amazon affiliate account and link your tools and get a lil commish

  21. This is exactly what I came here for. Thanks.

  22. Found out this design flaw several different times, but they were so spaced out I never caught on to what was happening. Always gouged out a hole with a chisel thinking there was something wrong with the hardware and I’d never have to deal with it again. It’s incredible the precut notches in doors for this hardware don’t have a hole drilled in

  23. How do you determine price on install trim, molding, etc ?

  24. love that router planer πŸ‘πŸ»βœ…

  25. Me and our other supervisors install these same pocket door hardware kits in all of our homes. We were just talking about finding something that can speed up the process. Yours was definitely quicker than using a knife and chisel. Great video!!

  26. Have you ever had double pocket doors and want access from either side when closed. I have been unable to find hardware that you can unlock from both sides.
    Thanks great tips!

  27. Thank you for introducing me to the router plane this will make life so much easier β™₯️

  28. This has nothing to do with the video, but I 0lacing 1×6 base board molding. Is an 18 game brad nailer ok or should I get 16 ga finish nailer?

  29. I have never installed a pocket door, but I can see so many uses for the router plane.
Have seen them before, but never in use.
During my first year (last year) installing custom cabinets that we also build which are 90% painted.
I have a huge tip for touching up any paint, you can buy color matched caulk from a paint store .
Perfectly matched in color and sheen for $20 per tube.
This can save yourself time and money.
Recently I had to install an 8ftx12 inch oak stained floating shelf ,into an double angled corner.
    Shelf was built 1 inch longer,with 2# 45Β° cuts.
Unfortunately 1 side was 44Β°,and the other was 47 resulting in it being 1/8 short in the front after scribing it in.
I cut a piece of drywall paper with wall paint on it,and had my paint store match it.
Obviously its not a super high end job,but a color matched board stretcher was super nice to have.
Thanks Spencer for another technique to add to my mental toolbox!

  30. Love a good video Spencer I think it’s pretty funny that I have one of those in my Amazon cart and now you just made a video on it.

  31. At 3:12 my eyes almost popped out of my head. Then I started drooling.

  32. What a professional. πŸ‘πŸ‘

  33. Great little tool. router plane

  34. Hey Spencer,
Have you ever used the pocket door hardware that makes use of a standard bore and mortise?

  35. Spencer’s craftsmanship and attention to detail is commendable! Love that router plane! Thanks! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜βœŒπŸ»πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

  36. No margin for error. Nicely done

  37. So the plane is called a β€œ rabbit plane β€œ ?? Where could I get one of those ? And one more question ….. do they come in different sizes ? Do you have it on your Tool list on your channel? Another awesome video man pocket doors have been a little difficult sometimes for me but I picket up a couple awesome tips from this video. You have other videos about pocket doors but this one was awesome thanks man ….

  38. For speed I use my Cordless dewalt circular saw to do the initial 2 cuts set at the proper depth, then switch to the jig saw to finish up the cut out. Thank you as always I found some useful tips and tricks to help me with the dreaded Pocket door Hardware. Hell just the dreaded POCKET DOOR.

  39. I love the use of the router plane, looks like that pocket door strike jamb was made of MDF. Curious to see how it works with hardwoods. Does anybody have any vids of installing the 300$ Emtec privacy pocket door hardware? Luckily, some door companies will do this for you, for about 250$. I chose this option when installing 7' tall by 1 3/4" thick 1,000$ White Oak doors. They have the jigs and the shop, any mistakes is on them. Spencer, not crazy about using throw latch as a denting tool. Some of that hardware is very poorly made with cheap, soft metal. You could achieve the same marks with a fine point lead pencil. Keep up the good work, love your channel!

  40. Why not prior to paint out of curiosity?
