after the installation can the external drive be unplugged from the pc?

11:20 after doing all the steps and getting to this point, the Windows hard drive doesn’t appear in the Startup Disk. The only way I can boot up from windows is going into Recovery Mode.
After selecting the Windows drive in recovery mode, I then need to restart or shut down the computer a couple times because I get a folder with a question mark and nothing boots up. After doing this then I am able to boot up in Windows.
I have my Mac OS installed on an external SSD. When I want to restart in OS X via Boot camp manager in Windows, it points to the internal HD and sees nothing so again, I would need to go back into Recovery Mode to find my Mac SSD.
Feels like too much of a hassle based on my experience. Is there a better way to switch back and forth from each OS? I just want to use windows to run my Steam games without lag or performance issues while not having to reboot my computer multiple times.
Not sure how long windows 10 takes to install but your process went fine no errors but when I restarted with the new windows usb drive the lwindows logo came up but now the screen is black and been like that for an hour. Computer is on and usb drive is on.
VM WARE 8 does not work anymore…

A few months ago I bought an Imac 2011.
After playing around with that old MacOS I decided to multiboot MacOS – Linux and Windows. But when I discovered my long time experience with Windows, I deleted them all and made a clean install with Windows 11. And yesterday I upgraded to Windows 11 22H2, using a trick to workaround TPM and CPU.
So now there are only 2 wishes:
1. How to get sound out of Windows 11, where sound out of Linux works well ..??
2. Is it usefull to put an SSD into this 11 year old iMac or better sell it and buy an newer model ??

After the installtaion how to delete VM on mac and the free up space that VM has taken up?
I chose one disk partition in an external drive to install Win2USB and the system proceeded to wipe all the other partitions in my external hard drive… everything … gone…
