  1. Do you have a video on repairs for “well loved” quilts?

  2. I had my rotary cutter in a drawer and I didn't realize that it was open. I cut my hand . . . . now that I have my cutter out and in use, I push the button to close the blade after every use.

  3. mmmm that's two things i've been doing wrong…. opening seams…back stitching…. oops three things…. long stitch (in case i have to unpick). I don't like a colour in a print which is too close to another and I want to change the whole piece over… not sure that was covered here but at least i learned mistakes i've been making.

  4. I have follwn patches tho.
The quit badding is still in tacked, ive had this blanket for uears and i wanna repare it but its missing full patches. I found the exact fabric my grandma used ro make it. How can i restore this blanket?

  5. Ma’am, you truly saved my project with this advice! Being a new quilter is rough. ❤ Thank you!

  6. What to consider saying when making a quilt using sewing machine to join the seams ? It has been hand cut and home made but not hand stitched .

  7. 5:00 l like the darning idea because my ex's gma's quilt with the solid cream back has a lot of frayed spots (but only in one direction and if I take it apart and sew the seams deaper, it won't be squares anymore). … But because the darning will definitely show, l think l might appliqué various sizes of hearts all over the back. (First, on the darned spots and then "random" places to make the hearts look planned.) If there's more spots than l think… instead of the hearts, l might throw on another piece of batting/backing and requilt the whole thing so there's less friction. 💖🌞🌵😷

  8. 4:00 l agree. Trimming threads is better than pulling. But my advice is mark the spot with a safety pin and when you get a minute, bury the thread tails… Because if that thread tail popped, it's likely to pop out again. Burying the tail instead of clipping, will keep the stitches from continuing to come undone. If there's not enough thread to use a self-threading needle, use a fine crochet hook to bury the thread between the batting. 💖🌞🌵😷

  9. Thank you for this info. Now I know to repair the cat-clawed rip in the embroidered quilt my mother made in the 1970s.

  10. Dear Karen,
I'm getting a quilt ready to take to a county fair. I made it last year. I use this lap quilt in the winter and cuddle a cat with it. I washed and dried it. Yesterday I was pressing it and noticed a tear in the sashing. Oh my gosh. Luckily I ran across your video about repairing holes, etc. in quilts. I watched it last year and now again twice. I'll probably just darn it a little and hope it works. If not, I'll make little cat appliques and stick a few on so that one's eye isn't drawn to just that one area. It's not a fancy quilt, but a "Scrappy Kitty" quilt. Thank you!

  11. Ok. I am going to add "Quilt Kisses" to all my quilts from now on! Sew cute!

  12. I’m currently repairing a well loved quilt for a friend that now has new puppy chew damage. Thank you! I have so much more to do,but these tips certainly will help.

  13. I love this video, so much good info! I’d also be very interested in your tips for fixing old, well loved quilts since I have a few in my home that would need some tlc to address the holes and frayed seams!

  14. Bula from the British isle of Fidji at the edge of glory (as Lady Gaga would put it),

I have a question: can a quilt be used to fix a tent that my dumb dog Natasha teared apart?

here is what I mean: https://youtu.be/ss6LjtgtWuQ

I feel like a woman and I would love to fix it. I do have access to a sewing machine, but I am not competent and I am only a boy.

  15. Great advice, good encouragement, thanks! <3

  16. Hi Karen! found this while searching how to repair a hole in a quilt. Thought I'd found all the info I need (very clear!) but then you ended with "these tips are for new quilts"… how is it different for old quilts? My quilt is from the 60s or 70s. Thanks!

  17. How in the world did I miss this video? I was just repairing some spots in my quilt the other day. It's on my bed so of course the dogs are on it all the time. I'm always finding one of all the problems you just addressed. Now I know I"ve been doing some of it right and have a few new tricks to use. Thank you.

  18. Hi!!! Please do a episode on what to do if i short fabric to finish a quilt!!!!
