How To Replace or Repair the Vacuum Breaker on a La Marzocco Linea Mini

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to replace and repair the vacuum breaker on a La Marzocco Linea Mini.

Warning: Please, turn the machine off, let it cool down and depressurise the boiler before attempting to replace the vacuum breaker.

Disclaimer: Follow the procedure at your own risk and responsibility.

La Marzocco has replaced the older version of vacuum breakers for all models, these are the two new parts you’ll need:

A2017 Fitting tube
L19203 Vacuum breaker

This vacuum breaker replaces the L19201/02 and L19301/02 parts.

You can also buy a replacement o-rings and repair your vacuum breaker instead of replacing it.

Total labour time is about 10 minutes.

Feel free to ask questions in regards to this in the comments bellow!

  1. Please, consider clicking Subscribe if you haven't already 🪴

  2. What happens when you eventually run out of tube from multiple replacements?

  3. I had to replace mine and it has a leak where the elbow connect with the vacuum breaker, I have tightened it twice but it continues to leak, any suggestions? Thanks!

  4. Just replaced mine with ease, thanks to your awesome video. Simple and easy to follow.

  5. I tried two of these – they let steam escape — disappointing. The new design sucks.

  6. How often should this get replaced?

  7. Where did you get that cup tray rail from? looks just like linea classic 👍

  8. Finally, after forgetting to purchase a new elbow fitting to match what's needed by the new vacuum breaker valve, bought and it was delivered yesterday, installed today May 30th, 2022.

Everything was just as you showed in your vid including old parts and new parts. I even watched a couple times to be sure I was threading the boiler steam escape line above and below the group head input line and the steam line (not sure I've IDd those lines properly).

I've powered up for a test drive once, I think everything is a-ok but, that said, much more steam escaped from the boiler prior to the vacuum valve closing than previously.

p.s. Had to listen to Night Fishing whilst replacing the valve to help ensure quality control of the work :).

  9. Thanks for the very informative vid. What was the reason why you replace the breaker?

  10. Hey thanks for the vid! I'm about to give this a go today or tomorrow on my Linea Mini.

I'd like to repair the old vacuum breaker valve as well so that I'll have a spare on hand. You write in one of the comments below that the valve needs a replacement 5 mil x 7 mil silicon o-ring, is there a width dimension as well? A quick search on Amazon shows me 1 mil width 0-rings.

    Thanks!

  11. Great video. I noticed you unscrewed from old breaker and then cut tube. Couldn’t you just cut tube without unscrewing? Thank you

  12. where can we get the O-ring – LaMarz says its not sold separately. Silly to throw away the brass fitting.

  13. do you need to empty the boiler prior to doing this repair?

  14. Thanks for this video. It’s very thorough and excellent content!! My LM started to gurgle as well and I’m hoping this will fix the issue.

  15. That's a really nice tutorial but I would not expect a part to fail in such a short time on such expensive machine!

  16. Nice video as always…. What where the symptoms that drove you to diagnose this as the solution?

  17. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise ♥️

  18. Thank you for the upload. I'm still indecisive on which high end machine to purchase mainly because of ease or difficulty of repair if and when needed. This however looks easy to manage when replacing parts. Have you had any major repairs in the years you've owned this machine? Who knew that a repair video could be so relaxing and therapeutic! 😉

  19. Wow, channel is into Hydraulics too now 😏
It's good to see that repairing is successfully finished.
Hope that such expensive machinery would need less repair,
since you treat it very well and keep it well maintained.

PS. I would like your opinion on the Lelit Bianca,
if you have seen it, read about it and have created already an opinion
