  1. I know that's it's painful to watch someone intentionally cause harm to a component, especially if it's a part that you desire however rather than getting triggered try to realize that these videos are designed to help give confidence to viewers to try and repair their own devices. The CPU still worked afterward and it's pain potentially helps countless people in the future to try and salvage their bent AMD CPUs. You should expect more videos like this, but I won't apologize if that bothers you. That's on you, not me.

  2. Thank you sir! This definitely saved me a couple of Ducketts. Good information.

  3. Thank you Jay! You are a legend for creating this video! Saved me a couple hundred bucks!

  4. Thank you for showing how to do this Jay. I just dropped a cpu for the first time since i started building like 10 years ago. Bout had a palpitation when i saw the pins on my Ry5 5600

  5. Jay you are awesome! Bent a pin in the middle of my CPU while refreashing thermal paste only noticed when it wouldn't post. Remembered watching this so got to work bending them back! Posted right up after the repair!

  6. My god you saved me man , I was shivering 😂😂😂😂 went through all the stages of grief untill I stumbled into ur video , and it bloody worked , thank you

  7. I realise this is quite an old video but I just had to post as just yesterday it saved my purchase. On a second hand site I bought a Ryzen 5 which the advert stated had all pins intact. When I opened the box 5 were bent badly. Of course after sending a picture to the seller they denied responsibility and said it left in perfect condition. To add irony it was the only second hand part I actually bought for my build. Anyway I digress….. Following your instructions I managed to straighten all the pins and all worked out fine. Thank you so much

  8. I fk up I ruin my cpu 😢 lol I bought 60$

  9. Linus the shill would just tell you to buy the most expensive new one

  10. Fixed my new 5950 during the montage music, thx dude.

FYI, had a small Henkel knife, dull af cos never sharpened it and little thicker, perfect cos barely need to wiggle them

  11. Thanks alot for this video man, I legit bent two pins on my 5900x today and this helped me fix it with a blade, just like new.

    Thanks heaps jay

  12. Just fixed mine with a needle just the width of the inbetween. Took me about 2mins.
About 5 pins where bent so far i couldnt fit a razor blade in between

  13. Thanks Jay saved my ass $500 😂

  14. need to start off with 0.3 mm needles in the direction of where the bend is, so it means if the bend is in corner you would need to insert the needle at a 45 degree angle across the pins, now gently raise the needle upwards. repeat this process multiple times. now insert 0.4 mm needle, this I believe is the most the pins can take at 45 degrees due to the arrangement at the said angle. but with 0.5 mm at 90 degree it will allow to further straighten them up. good luck!

  15. 1. Handle the CPU as least as possible
    2. Always handle it over a bed/soft surface so a drop won't bend pins.
    3. Hold CPU by the corners.

Remember all CPUs (PGA, LGA) are keyed/notched so they only fit in ONE way, the correct way. You simply place the CPU in the socket, then lock it down with the arm/lever. The first step of simply placing the CPU in the socket should not require force.

  16. today i swapped coolers and didnt know that thermal paste had to melt before you could take the cooler off and i wiggled my cooler to get it out the socket and the processor came off with it with bent pins. thankfully i had a better cpu on hand

  17. Going to give this a try on my Ryzen 9 3900. I just got the chip a couple of weeks ago and I had it running in my old AMD Wraith Prism fan. I switched over to a Artic Water Cooler and went to swap the fans and by CPU totally bonded to the heat sink. I pried the CPU off but dropped it off my work bench and bent about 12 pins 6 of which, pretty badly but none broken. I'm going to try to save the chip with the method shown here. Thanks for the Video and wish me luck!

  18. You saved me too, buddy. Keep it coming.

  19. How to AVOID bending pins. Never remove thermal paste from your cpu OUTSIDE of its socket. Having a kleenex or cotton swab pull on a pin is the greatest source of bent pins (just did it myself … oops!)

  20. i lost one pin when installing my 3800x3d.. im waiting on my new motherboard as my current one wouldnt work with it even tho it says it's compatible and even after bios update and everything else that i've tried. hey… if doesn't work if somehow the cpu is faulty… well i have 3 years of warranty on it for replacement or refund…

  21. i just had 2 bent ping i i was trying to fix them but they were to close to eachother but the razer blade trick helped me out alot ty

  22. Just bent some CPU pins last night. This is the first incident in the 30 years i have been building and repairing PC's. My eyes are getting shot. this video helped allot. thanks!

  23. I love you so much bexause i repeer my cpu,i love you so much❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

  24. Watched this after DIYing a solution last night. What I did is very similar, but I grabbed a pin from my wife’s sewing stuff. It had a good sized round end. Slide the pin between the rows, then pull the sewing needle UP, turn 180, repeat. Watching this, I think the advantage using the sewing needle is that when you pull it up it forces the pins in the correct orientation right away. But…….I haven’t finished the build yet, so we’ll see if I got it right lol

  25. Thanks Jay this saved me. Fix the bend pins and I'm good to go.

  26. Hi Jay, thanks for all of your TwoCents computer videos! I just salvaged an old Intel 286 CPU before tossing out the motherboard. While I do have an old CPU processor removal tool, unfortunately, I haven't seen or used it in many years, so I just decided to very quickly try to gradually work the CPU out of the motherboard's socket using only my fingers with side to side back and forth lifting pressures, but the entire outside row of pins on the final lift side of the CPU became extremely bent at the final moment when the CPU suddenly released from the motherboard's socket. Initially, I attempted to use the small bladed screwdriver pin recovery method but with so many bent pins to straighten I decided to see if another method might also work. I used a mechanical pencil by removing the lead from the end of the pencil's "very thin metal tube" which also extended out from the end of the mechanical pencil. I was then able quickly insert the individual CPU bent pins into the extended end of the mechanical pencil's narrow tube to provided easy "non-slip CPU pin bending control with 360 degree pin straightening leverages" for each of the very bent CPU processor pins. As a result, I found that using a lead empty mechanical pencil, with a thin extended metal tip, worked great for quickly straightening each of the processor's bent CPU pins! My salvaged Intel 286 CPU has now been added to my Old Computer Processor Collection… and it looks great. 🙂

  27. Omg just realised i had bent pins rebuilding my pc and was like of fk. Then i found this vid thanks Jay.
