Good job! As i used to install car stereos back in the day, I'd recommend getting a thing i think they call Helping Hands – a thing with a metal base with 2 alligator clips to hold the wire.

i wouldn't twist the wires then twist them together, i'd leave the stripped ends straight, slide em into one another then twist em together, then solder.. side note VW doesn't approve soldering wires nowadays
