Installing Interior Window Trim | Beginner

Installing new interior window trim can be a daunting task for the beginner/intermediate carpenter, but this step-by-step video will definitely show you all the details of “how-to”. Basic painted flat trim with no mitered corners is a great place to learn because of the simplicity of the joinery and the ease of working with this material, plus once it’s done, it looks really nice (IMO)!

  1. Our beginners handheld routers course is now live! Check out the online course here —> https://bit.ly/3DcIeE3

  2. Good video. I see you hadn’t used used drywall finish coat yet. Wouldn’t you want to do that drywall mud before trimming the window?

  3. After researching many different instructional videos, this is by far the easiest to understand, and execute. THANK YOU! You're a fantastic teacher.

  4. If u think this was explained as easy… you’re nuts. But thx

  5. Thank you great info. I just realized why all these newer apts are so dark. They skimp out on materials and steps that a actually increase natural 😢light

  6. You definitely know what you’re doing and take pride in your work. I’m about to just YOLO some window trim and hope for the best. 😅

  7. Wow that was an amazing video! I wish I could say the same about videos I made three years ago… 😅

  8. So glad I found this video! Excellent instruction!!

  9. I know this vid is three years old but thank you, very quality tutorial.

  10. Bless you my son. This is exactly the craftsman-style look I was hoping to find in a video. Having a short vid with a lot of information is very helpful.

  11. Quick question: you’re using pre-primed casing, yet you applied wood glue. Did you do any off camera sanding on that area because wood glue doesn’t stick to primed or painted wood.

  12. Next youtube search: "How to hire a trim carpenter."

  13. I moved into a home that had a new picture window installed but it’s not finished on the outside (which opens up to the 3 season porch so it’s not exposed to the elements). Around where the hole was cut into the siding is exposed as is the window’s metal frame and bolts. What trim pieces do i get to finish so that I can paint out here? Beveled? What kind of wood or material? There’s about a 2” gap that needs to be covered. Thank you

  14. Can I just put the wood over the drywall that is already there? Or do I have to remove and why?

  15. Add 3/4”? You mean subtract?

  16. i don't see that you showed how to make the mock up. so confusing

  17. Now do a video that teaches people how to be efficient and fast.

  18. Man this video just gave me all the confidence to take this job on tomorrow. Thanks!

  19. Your videos are a godsend. I am an Americorps construction crew leader with Habitat for Humanity and drywall is currently going up on our site. These videos are helping me immensely to prepare for the finish work that is right around the corner. TY!

  20. Way too confusing for me. When it said beginner level I think it meant for a carpenter who is transitioning to finish work. Shew
