7 Common Security Camera Installation FAILS and How To Avoid Them

Security cameras are easier than ever for a home user to install, but make sure you avoid these 7 common mistakes. For MOST people I suggest the Reolink 4K NVR (https://amzn.to/33YFKcK) with person detection because it represents an incredible value, but PLEASE watch this video first before choosing Reolink: https://youtu.be/XXoTH1-78iA

  1. I just noticed that the labels at 3:55 are reversed. The first shot with the wide angle is 2.8mm focal length, while the second more zoomed in shot is with a 4.0mm focal length.

  5. Hello
I have a hik vision dvr can i power the dvr through ethernet port instead of the dc power adapter

  6. You’re talking all this tech stuff but lost me when you mentioned Reolink.

  7. This some great, helpful content. Excellent video. Thank you!

  8. Why does no one talk about the Lorex cameras? I know they have some cheap setups that are ssold at retail places but they also have very nice high end products both wired and wireless.

  9. By “big mistake “ was assuming that all IP cameras are fundamentally the same.. I assumed if I was IP based, then I’d certainly have access to the stream on my local network right? Wrong! My mistake was buying a bunch of Wyze brand cameras. I quickly discovered they don’t use RTSP. This was fine for a while because they offered a beta firmware that included RTSP. Well it seems they’ve given up on that. And their new cameras don’t have that option anymore. I’ve now switched to Amcrest and am extremely happy I did. I now have a wonderfully working Blue Iris server setup thanks to your great videos! Thank you
(Don’t get me wrong, the Wyze cameras are a good choice if you don’t care about viewing their streams with third party apps and don’t mind all your footage going to their servers, it just didn’t work for my use case)

  10. Excellent summary. Thank you.

  11. You didn’t mention Axis cameras

  12. If they are on my fenced property that's all I need to take action

  13. What do you recommend for jamming

  14. How can I stop internet from being jammed while crime is happening

  15. What about the mosquitos n spiders spin in webs setting off the motion ?

  16. I have a back porch, under roof, with a pool and full screen enclosure. I'm thinking of mounting one or two battery cameras on the far side of the enclosure, look back at the house…where the enclosure screen doors are and where my home entry points are inside the porch. Is this a good idea…or should my cameras be mounted in the porch looking outward? Either way I can't easily run power.

  17. I really enjoy your well thought out infomercials
    Thank you for sharing

  18. In Florida there are lots of extreme weather events, are there any cameras that withstand these?
For example – lots of humidity, sun, and occasional tropical and thunderstorms.

  19. Video is a waste of f*cking time!

  20. Someone recently drove through my fence. It was caught on video. However, since i wasn't able to read the license plate, they got away. What camera would you recommend to read the license plate, mostly at night, or what general setting would you recommend to record a license plate?

  21. It seems wired cctv camera can be disrupted by bombarding it with microwave. There is no apparent defence.

  22. Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa

  23. Are they cameras without subscriptions
