How to repair a hole in drywall (california patch)



This is my SUPER EASY and effective patch for holes up to 8 inches. No tape, wood or screws needed.

  1. I'm guessing you can still do a California patch with only 3 full sides and about half of the 4th side available? (The wall patch would butt up against an opening in the ceiling.)

  3. I just moved my TV to another wall. This also meant I had to move my surround sound speakers. So I had five holes to patch (three for the speakers and two for the smurf tube). This technique was a sanity saver.

  11. Thanks to a huge yellow jacket colony in the ceiling of our spare bedroom, I'll watch quite a few of your videos for guidance… we've been at our home 7 years. We started noticing yellow jackets in our home. The yellow jackets chewed through the ceiling dry wall. An exterminator did the spraying, I'll do the clean-up and the patching dry wall work…

  12. This is great, but I have questions. With existing textured drywall, do you sand down around the opening? If not, how do you compensate for the existing texture? Sorry if this is basic, I've never done this before!
