Logitech G27 Wheel Mod – How To Install Guide – Tutorial

Logitech G27 Wheel Mod – How To Install Guide + Tutorial

In this video I take you through how I modified my logitech G27, taking it from the standard 280mm wheel to a 340mm sparco wheel, including creating a button plate with new buttons, and extending the paddle shifters.

All mods are non destructive, and make returning the G27 to its original form quick and easy.

-No soldering onto the existing G27 pcb is required.
-No cutting of any existing G27 wiring is required.

  1. nice video, im trying to bid on a g27 right now I really hope I can get it for cheap

  2. When you Change the steering wheel you loose alot of force feedback

  3. what about making the game think you have a larger steering angle? like the G920 is a 900 what if we change that to 1000?

  4. Hey man, can you share your g27 settings?

  5. why dont just increase the force via software?

  6. I like your vide ,can you tell me the specificatio of the connectors?

  7. I just modded mine with a variable voltage step up module and psu I had spare. Got 30v and 6 amps going to it. At least doubled the force of the FFB.

  8. Can i swap wheel without attaching these 6 buttons?

  9. Since I do truck and farming sims more than sim racing, a wheel this large sounds right about perfect.

  10. i think 300/320mm wheel is the maximum size you should put on a G25/G27, 340/350mm is too big

  11. I'm a Rally fan and know for sure that they use around 330 – 350 mm wheels, drifters also use ~320 mm afaik

  12. Thanks for the details! I was considering this, but now I'm firmly sure that I won't be doing it. G920 FFB already feels pretty weak to me, so I wouldn't want to make it even less powerful and responsive.

  13. Hi, I'm a racing enthusiast …. I just got a logitech g29 steering wheel I noticed that for me the steering wheel is too small and I would like to buy a mod of a steering wheel (wheel) larger in size …. I don't know where to buy it … I tried on 3drap but they are all from formula1 … Please let me know where the steering wheel mods and also the hub to install the steering wheel are sold? thanks! Hello!

  14. how much heavier it is compared to the g27 steering wheel and whether the steering wheel heats up quickly

  15. My dad had a 260mm in his car 😂😂

  16. No, the ffb isn't affected that badly by the steering wheel diameter, it's just that you added a fucking block of wood to it, just use your brain, what did make the ffb bad, a slight increase in diameter, with a wheel that might even be lighter than the stock wheel, or an added block of wood that weighs about 500g ? And if you say ffb is enough for drifting then it is plenty for grip racing, I do both, and strong and responsive ffb is way more important for drifting and I feel the limitations of the logitech wheel pretty easy while drifting, but for grip racing I've yet to feel it be too weak, you really need a lot of strength, acceleration and responsiveness for drifting, at least compared to grip racing.
Also the argument of the diameter making it less responsive is irrelevant, what matter is realism, not preference, otherwise you might as well start playing Need For Speed.

  17. Alternative title: how to make logitech wheel thrusmaster

  18. As u said after changing the wheel to a bigger diameter one, the response was bit lowered ryt, I think u wouldn’t have something as such on a direct wheel drive systems! Am i right? I don’t know whether that would be the case or not..

  19. was that an original sparco rim? if so it will be pretty heavy im sure, compared to the cheap rip offs available on ebay, i am planning on installing a cheap deep dish rim which has maybe 2 inches extra diameter compared to a stock g920… and wouldnt turning the ffb up counter the drop you feel from going larger?.. your video has made me question whether i really want to do it though now XD had to rma my g920 creaky play in the wheel (im sure an easy repair but not without voiding warranty) and i have a replacement on the way, i believe i am 'allowed to do as you wish' (quoted from emails from logitech) with the old one.. which is going to be, modify the shit outa it. and keep the replacement for spares and repairs after warranty.

  20. Great video, amazing job, i have done a mod with a 320 mm very light and cheap whell and feels amazing, a lite bit less of feedback, but correct, i feel more presicion on the car. But i was looking for this mod, the button mod, becasue a don´t want to cut the original wheel and this is what i was looking for!!! great job nice video! Cheers

  21. Fantastic video. I'm suprised by your conclusion!! I really appreciate the honesty. It goes a long way in life my friend. Thank you for the no bullshit ! You've gained a new subscriber.

  22. How to set settings logitech g27 on car games and set the dead point to control the torch realistically

  23. thanks man! I was contemplating doing this myself, but after watching your video I think I'll just upgrade it instead

  24. For the part where you said the larger wheel makes you turn more than the smaller wheel. On forza you can just turn your steering linearity up so you have more turn force with a lesser turn radius.

  25. Lemme buy it? Seriously tho can I pay you for another one??

  26. Hey man, I know this video is a couple of years old now but I can't help but comment… did you reduce the degrees of rotation when moving to a bigger wheel? I mean, using different size wheel with the same settings will obviously make it feel wrong and by increasing the diameter of the wheel, you'd naturally have to reduce the degrees of rotation to give it the same responsiveness as a small wheel. Anyway, just seeing if you ever did that and if it made it feel better? I'm planning to do the same sort of thing… to be fair, I use mine more for drifting on asseto corsa and forza, so the bigger wheel seems appealing! Other than that, top notch video dude.

  27. Nicely done, good project and honest review. Rare these days.

  28. check this mod upgrade for made a real sterring wheel of the G25 G27 G29

  29. I did put a 330mm deep dish wheel on the G27, the idea was to drift. IT made the steering very light which made drifting easier but for racing it was horrible. After the slide phase of about 3 weeks it was reverted back to stock rim for more racing.

  30. Idk if it's just the accent but you kind of sound like one of the guys from Mighty Car Mods

  31. How's the G29 motor handle the 14" wheel?

  32. This is working with g25 ?

  33. Why would anyone want such a large wheel anyways. The only reasons I can think of are drifting and crusing in which case the FFB doesnt need to be extremely detailed. If you want to use the wheel for sim racing, then why would you want such a large wheel anyways? Most racecars dont even have such large steering wheels.

  34. Where did you buy the jst cable, i don't found the same of you

  35. Thanks so much for doing this experiment.

  36. you sellin that Sparco steering wheel?

  37. pcb pcd pba, easy to mess up things 🙂

  38. Hey can i connect my custom bmw steering wheel with logitech g27 pc.

  39. Anyway we can get the source of all your supplies?

  40. Where i can buy those buttons and wiring?

  41. Im bit late but would like to know what model is the sparco wheel.

  42. I use bigger custom g27 and I have to admit that it is actually less responsive and you have to move your hands more, but because I use it mainly for drifting it feels easier and more natural with those bigger moves. And one thing to notice is that with the bigger wheel forces are weeker due to bigger diameter.
Still I don't regret it and because my custom is made of alcantara it looks much better.
