I have a Hi8 MP metal tape that I opened the case and the spring popped out. What orientation is that spring placed. The gate will not stay closed.

Question: I have a canon 8mm camcorder and use it to play a bunch of 8mm tapes. The problem I'm having is that some tapes play well and others play sped up (kinda fast forward) and are unstable in the playback. Any advice?
