  1. This is a chain for homeowner saws, and as a homeowner in the Southeast who doesn't really count wood by the cord https://www.youtube.com/post/Ugkxbs4FIpzuLyOJe2SesfbtvXi1CTnUXroD I have this (or 20BPX) on several saws at different levels of smallness. I've never felt that the safety chain is holding me back. I buy multiple chains, and when the installed one doesn't feel grabby enough, I file it, then throw it in a cup of gasoline while I rotate to the next one. I have yet to file one down to the wear lines, so I feel like I'm getting my money's worth, and I'm happy about this new 3-pack – although, at this rate, it's going to be awhile before I buy another. I don't know why I would try anything else.

  2. Years later, I just watched this video.
Great video mate! You've taught me something! I'll be servicing my chainsaw tomorrow!

  3. You know, as a Christian, I just can't help but commend a job well done on a concise how to video – thanks for sharing.

  4. Many thanks to both you and your uncle. Great work.

  5. Hi, As a middle-aged woman learning to DIY, I thought this explanation was absolutely spot on. Ps, I didn't even know about the "oiler" other than to keep it topped up…It's just that I was watching your "how to put on a chain correctly" after mine fell off during operation (this keeps happening every so often actually, so I am now about to look in your video's on " How to correctly tighten the chain") and this video popped up on the screen as "suggested". Your Uncle is very knowledgeable. Thank you for sharing.

  6. Hey Greg it would be great if you and your Guru Uncle could do one on oil leaking from chain saw. I understand that a common cause is the gasket/O-Ring at the filler plug. But when thatā€™s not the answer? Any tips much appreciated Mate

  7. Thanks a lot for the great video, very informative and well done.

  8. The Best video on chainsaw Oiler malfunctions! Thank you Sir! You saved me Money!

  9. Very informative video thanks , fixed my oiling issue clogged bar !

  10. Thank you for taking the time to walk us through this process! Very well done, both of you!!!

  11. That was very good and helpful. Thank Y'all both, very much!

  12. I would have pressure cleaned or air blasted the chainsaw and bar first. Other chainsaws can be different dont need to pull clutch off. But good idea the nylon rope to stop piston moving !

  13. I have a battery powered one and it does not appear to be oiling. Unfortunately it looks like I must open it to get to that because the doofus who designed it did not make it accessible enough from the outside. I guess that is how they keep people sending them in for a repair or even thinking they need a new saw (yes some people are that gullible!!)

  14. Beware of the 'rope trick'. I have just had to completely strip & rebuild the engine, because the rope went through the exhaust port & jammed in the bore. Luckily the engine seems to have survived, but………..

  15. Thx for the great video Greg! I know what Iā€™ll be doing tomorrowšŸ˜Š

  16. Before taking the thing apart try this: make a 80:20 mix of fuel and bar oil. 80 fuel. Put that in as your chain n bar oil. Now once the saw is warm, rev it a lot, give it max throttle on and off for about 10 mins. Eventually youā€™ll see it start to dislodge a lot of built up gunk. The fuel cleans everything up and the little bit of oil helps lubricate the chain. If it works tip the remaining mix out and put in 70:30 mix of bar oil & fuel to run it normally. 70 chain n bar oil. Iā€™ve done this on two saws, one 15 yo and the other 10 and itā€™s got them oiling again. Not a totally perfect solution but may help if you donā€™t want to take the thing apart. This is a variation of another idea that involves using just plain fuel but I think itā€™s too liquidy to use straight fuel. A little bit of bar oil thickens it up just enough when trying to flush the gunk out. If this doesnā€™t work your oiler may be gone. Happy cutting!

  17. I've watched several chainsaw repair videos on YouTube as well as various other sites and your "How to Repair a Chainsaw Oiler" video was by far the most in depth and informative video I've seen so far. I love that you covered everything: explained all the parts , how to repair it, and especially your detailed explanation of how the oiler functions. Thank you guys for a great video!
