DISCLAIMER: Entering the service menu on an OLED TV may void your warranty. The following instructions are provided for educational purposes only. Any service menu access or settings changes are done entirely at your own risk, and we cannot be held accountable or liable for the consequences of your action.

To enter the service menu on LG OLED TVs, you’ll have to use a service remote. Here’s one from Amazon that works*: https://geni.us/lgservice

The 4-digit code to access LG’s service menu is 0413.

To enter the service menu on Samsung OLED TVs, you’ll need a traditional remote (not the Smart remote). If your TV doesn’t come with a traditional remote, you can buy one from Amazon here*: https://geni.us/samsungremote

Instructions to enter the service menu on Samsung OLED:
==============================================
– Point your traditional remote directly at the infrared sensor on the TV.
– While the TV is on, press [Mute], [1], [1], [9], [OK], [OK] on the remote control, which will open the Hospitality Menu.
– Press [1], [2], [3], [4] to enter the service menu without resetting your regular menu settings.

  1. Other than voiding your warranty. Is there any other risk in turning screen saver brightness to 0 on the Samsung?

  2. I just bought Samsung S90C and then I encountered this video.
I'm worried if the S90C is going to have these issues…

  3. Why GSR can detect logo, but it can't adjust dimming only for affected pixels? Feels like someone who developed this feature was drunk and lazy, because what they did this is not solution at all, this is complete scam, because it completely ruins all reasons why people buy TV for gaming.

  4. Nov 2023 – assume cx hasn't had a firmware fix yet. i use my tv for gaming on console, a pc monitor and for tv content.. i have the service remote.. what is the current recommended to disable with service remote for that type of use? TPC GSR ASBL?

  5. This issue is a firmware issue that can be fixed with a simple update that allows users to change the setting without a special remote or going into developer tweaks.Absolutely everyone loves the image to pop and be over saturated nowadays , the exact opposite from that is what keeps the retina healty in the longterm.Watching super bright and super contrasted frames will trick the eye into not blinking in combination with a dry retina the blue light can do damage overtime making people wear glasses after years of this practice.Just my 2cents..

  6. you a hero, since 2 years i wonder why this happens and how to turn that option off. But i have never bothered to look further into this. And now your video just pops up randomly on my feed. I can't say how grateful i am, haha. Thank you. Now i just have to buy a proper Samsung tv control with numerical buttons.

  7. AAAARGH! I just want to watch TV.

  8. I just noticed my tv was pretty dark on a night scene and when it quickly went to a morning scene it took a little time for the oled to adjust brightnesss. I was wondering if that’s because it’s hdr 10 and not being played with Dolby vision.

  9. Problem number 5 is going to give people seizures.
Although I don’t get seizures, I cannot watch a movie on an OLED tv. For some reason it hurts my eyes and gives me a headache. It could be because it does stutter a bit or it’s because the picture is just too dark and puts a strain on my eyes.

  10. What's crazy is that OLED technology is that it's a fatally flawed design which should have never made it out of a RnD lab, let alone to the retail market. Burn in issues. Mechanisms to counter it which make the viewing experience worse. Not all TVs having a simple mechanism to clear up the image which linger from prior scenes. In some cases… having to leave your TV off for anywhere from 4 to 7 hours to deal with an issue that re-occurs fairly quickly? (No manual option to reset the image on some OLEDS.)

I was thinking about getting an OLED, but my research has shown me it's a nightmare hole. QLED might just be the same (not researched that yet either.)

  11. hi can i disable auto dimming for my LG OLED55BX9LB ? thanks

  12. But we have to remember that you also say that TV must be in PC mode for that "sweet, juicy big d 444".

  13. Wait, wait, wait, does APL / ABL effect ALL OLED models? And you can only turn it off by potentially voiding your warranty? This seems like an unacceptable TV watching experience.

  14. Can't comment on higher end OLED TV's,, as i simply can't afford them, but in what was my budget to replace my TV (about $1000-1200) for a 50" TV minimum size, i felt oled screens were a little lacking in colour pop.

They felt more natural in many ways from what i saw, but slightly dull at times as well.

I'm sure top of range Sony sets are immense, but best i found in my budget was a Phillips 48" screen (55" was $400 more for some insane reason).

Along with my concerns about burn in through use of Netflix, IPTV, gaming etc, i was put off by OLED and ended up buying a mini Led instead.

Comes with it's own issues but overall they seem like the lesser of two evils for me, and this video just makes me happier with my decision.

This would annoy the living fuck out of me

  15. Why don't you have tips for Panasonic TV owners, Vincent?

  16. So in other words all these anomalies are caused by manufacturer's OLED burn in protections. So if you want the best picture your OLED can outpput you have to essentially risk voiding your warranty and an increased risk of burn in. This is why I am reluctant to get an OLED TV.

  17. This is the main reason why I am done with OLED and bought the TCL R754 98 inch for $4000. I can deal with having to only sit in one spot and have less than ideal blacks levels for the benefits of having amore immersive experience with a brighter screen and no risk of burn in

  18. Ozark is impossible to watch on OLED (LG C1) for this reason. Wish I knew the fix sooner. 🙂

  19. Sony a80L ABL very annoying please help anyone I can’t deal with it !!!

  20. And yet any question of OLED vs Mini-LED on Reddit gets the automatic "get OLED" answer. I'm not prepared to worry about my TV and keep changing settings, I just want a TV for my family, and I believe it is the same for many others.

  21. Had to do it. My LG OLED dims the screen big time in almost every dark scene. Cant have that anymore.

  22. 8:30 I don't think the 30 fps youtube video can really show this well.

  23. Is this still a problem on recent models? This turns me off buying an OLED entirely.

  24. Judder réduction on 2 on Samsung settings is still awful in low FPS content. I will never buy an Oled TV anymore 🙁

  25. 07:55 The Pixel Shifting crops the image by several pixels on the sides as the image moves. I thought it made the image a little bit smaller and then moved it, but it doesn't. You're actually "losing" some of your image with that feature activated. Not recommended. 👎

  26. This only happens when you stream content on WebOS. If you play content from an external device, like a TV Box, this problem is absent. I have an old firmware 3.11. (something, I don't know). The courtroom scene and the dark scene from 2017 look perfectly fine. Everything works for me, so I won't update it.

  27. well, i am trying OLED now, i have set brightness to 37 out of 100 and that stupid dimming is still happening

  28. So glad I have Kuro Plasma and CRT displays, perfect motion, blacks, colours, shadow detail, and so on.

  29. The courtroom scene it's from the 2020 movie "Pieces of a Woman". I'll look for the HDR version to test if my OLED is affected. Thank you very much. Edit: I couldn't find and HDR version of Pieces of a Woman, so I'll go with 1917 instead. I could also watch the whole thing again, it was an amazing movie.

  30. No wonder my dark sdr movies look so dark. NMNT 1 and 2 were so dark.

  31. In the pursuit of video perfection. The fact is, the best display technology ever made was Plasma specifically by Pioneer. It is a shame that technology cost to produce was extremely high, and why it's now defunct. If it kept going, today we would have UHD / 8K Plasma panels running at 600Hz native. Plasma panels although suffered burn in, did not suffer from many of the issues you are discussing today. Advancements could have reduced burn in on Plasmas. Now, I can only hope LG keeps producing OLED, and SONY keeps sourcing panels from LG, for if they do not, I fear it wont belong before OLED suffers a similar fate as Plasma did. SONY please keep sourcing OLED from LG, and LG please do not stop producing OLED. Thank you!

  32. had me at "If you are still hell bent on doing this…"

  33. Is the ASBL issue fixed now on B2 03.33.55 released Aug 4? It doesn't appear so, is there a movie/time marker on netflix or youtube that can be used to easily test for the issue?

  34. Ive turned the auto brightness down to zero on the s96b in the service menu and all auto dimming/eco. It’s still dimming the picture a lot. Watching sky sports uhd football compared to standard hd is terrible on the virgin v6 box.

  35. SOOOO STUPID!!! INSTEAD OF DIMMING THE HIGHEST BRITHNESS PIXELS THEY LOWER THE BRIGHTNESS OF WHOLE PANEL :DDDDD GEEZUS CRIST OLED STILL IN 1998

  36. I genuinely don’t understand how it can be acceptable for the tv to do this.

I am so frustrated with my OLED because of this and also that it is just not bright enough.
