I made this video because people have been asking how I add sounds to my Melee mod, so here it is! This video shows you how to replace any sound in the game with any mp3 file or whatever you want from YouTube.
This video is inspired by David V. Kimball and MetiCu.

Do you know if just straight up removing certain clips will work
thank you for making this! do you know if there are any certain moves which can not be replaced? and if there is a maximum number of sounds i can replace? or if 48000hz is ok instead of 32000hz for the files?
I've been trying to mess with a couple sounds and I keep getting errors saying "The disc could not be read". Any suggestions?
Hey mam I tried doing a fart sound effect for falcons taunt and the game was just black
Good video, I was able to restore Fox's Japanese taunt on my isos that use m-ex as a base.
Mex tool has been around for a while my dude. That's team akaneias mod
About to start this endeavor. Do you know if hit-sound files are shared or duplicated for each character? I'd like to add the TF2 obnoxious pan hit sound into the game but only for when Game and watch lands a hit with the pan physically. I'll come back to this thread and update those who care w/ my results
Had an Idea to change the dash and f smash audios to different sounding beeps to I could hear the timing for a pivot fsmash, but I realized that the forward smash sound only comes out if successful. I'd have to make any c stick input to the left or right beep, so I think my project is dead in the water for now
Still, I learned a lot and now Marth says "lets dance" instead of his normal taunt!
Thanks!
Thank you for making this video! I was trying to add Star Wars Blaster sounds that I found on SSBMTextures and couldn't figure out what to do because it was a .spk file. You are the ONLY person that mentioned m-ex Tool reads .wav files and now I can not only add customs sounds, but I can create my own! Thank you so much! 😀
Hmm seems to not work with rebuilds, is there an easy way to copy my rebuild files to a modded version of vanilla i changed with mex
tysm now my pikachu goes brrrrrrrrr
