  2. The only time I had a failure due to a clogged spark arrestor was on a MS170 that got lots of cold weather use. I cleaned it and it ran like new I paid attention not to over-mix the oil. That had no effect on the carbon clogging. Without the arrestor this saw screams.

  3. Fantastic! Absolutely correct information, actually wire brushed it clean and rinsed with carby cleaner, refitted now as good as new. Thank you.

  4. Couldn’t get the plug out

  5. Using the propane torch worked like a charm! Good as new! Serwus!

  6. Do you have any videos of FS40 strimmer throttle cable replacement

  7. This was a one beer fix because I found this after I tried adjusting high and low. My wire wheel on the grinder fixed my screen right up it was a FS56R trimmer and a flat screen. I also cut the screen in half to make it easier to get in and maybe a slight gain in power. Just remove the orange cover to anyone reading this. Ask me how I know😅

  8. thanks a lot, you just saved my day. BT121 ran like SH..T, she's up and running like new

  9. I see so many of my customers come in that remove those (and are in shop for other issues) I always check their equipment as it could be as simple as this. However, some years ago there was a guy who did that as well (removed it) and while string trimming a yard for one of his lawn service customers his Stihl trimmer caught fire violently and he suffered some extreme burns to his side, back, and part of his face from the flames that surrounded him. He had a small fuel leak coming from the fuel line in his tank and it had been determined that it was ignited likely from the non-present spark arrestor. Though, it cannot be proven, I firmly believe in cleaning it and putting it back. Scary stuff, that guy is scarred for life.. Also, glad to see there are some of us out there still that don't rip people off. I fixed an older commercial John Deere ZT yesterday for a guy who wanted his cables replaced for the choke and throttle due to it being hard to move and pull the choke. Was able to free it back up with PB blaster and then after a cleaning lubricated it. Works like new, took 10-15 minutes (had to remove side compartment) but did not have to buy cables. Didn't charge him, I simply said this one was on the house.

  10. I pull them out of everything and keep them out. I have a Stihl BR 340 backpack blower that I bought in 2002 and after only 6 months it was bogging down. I took it out and never had another problem with it since other then replacing the carb with an aftermarket one on Amazon for $20 about a year ago. Never started any fires neither and I'm in Florida

  11. Steve is da man! Had the same symptom on my Stihl string trimmer and this was the issue; completely blocked screen. The screen is just a small rectangle that slides into place on the muffler and is held there by a single screw. Would have been nice if Stihl put an access hole in the housing to access that screen, but they didn't so I just made my own. So do those other manufacturers not have spark arrestor screens? I don't understand why they wouldn't carbon up the same way…

  12. First time I've seen literal "hold my beer" meme live!

  13. I have a Husqvarna 360 BT that does this. It won't rev up. This morning I took the spark arrestor out and it was spotless. I put it back in because it was clean. Of course it still did not want to rev up when I first started it.

  14. Knew about that one what if it still does what yours was doin, whybis my fs90 r won't take the throttle

  15. Anyone ever tried spraying the piece with oven cleaner? Lye-based oven cleaner (typically the yellow top can) will strip carbon residue/buildup from iron/mild steel/stainless steel relatively easily….but itll destroy aluminum so you cant do it if it isnt made of some kind of iron based material. Might be worth a try if you have oven cleaner around or can get some cheap

  16. Thanks mate, you were spot on with your info , gave me enough to get my beast singing again.

  17. Thank you so much for this info!

  18. Absolutely incredible,. Yes it will be hard for you to believe but true as it gets. The very last time I fired up my Stihl backpack blower it just didn't sound correct but I thought..,🤔 I will go with it and see how it goes. I shut it down before I finished the job, in fear of blowing up my backpack. I know I have the correct fuel mix, I turned it up , (spark plug, filters, prime ball, fuel lines, etc. Just recently. Incredible thanks for the replay of this video Steve,. I was at loss and I'm gonna check this right now and give you an update but I believe you just saved me money and Time, Hat's off to you eh, from the States
    😁🇺🇲👍

  19. This was my exact problem. I’ve done everything I can think of and this was the issue. Thanks so much dude! Love your videos.
