VW glove boxes not closing is common. Rather than replacing an expensive glove box latch, here is a ~$20 solution to fix a glovebox that will not stay closed, or will not latch. You will not have to remove the glove box for this repair. While the repair was designed for a Volkswagen glove box that will not stay closed, it may work on many other cars too. Glove box door replacement will cost you about $250 in parts. #humblemechanic

Where do I get the magnets at
What is the link to those magnets please??!!
Where is the link for shop the magnetics? ๐
Thank you so much! Iโve been dealing with a broken glove box for years. Definitely going to try this
Where can I find these magnets
Worked great on my mk5
I have a 2001 GTI, RHD from the UK and my glove box did not have the bump stops. This kit still works, I had to become creative.
There are two holes on either side where the original latch locks into place. I placed the large magnet inside and got the smaller silver magnet (with a hole in it) and put it on the outside face, and super glued it into place. (Recreating where the bump stop would have been)
I then put the black washer and screw onto the silver magnet and gently closed the glove box lid and pressed against the screws to give me the points to screw the black screw and washer down into the glove box lid.
It isnโt pretty or OEM, but itโs functional and way cheaper than a new glove box lid!
Hope this helps anyone without the bump stops!!
Where did you get the magnets. I got some POWERFUL Neodymium magnets, but they didn't come with the screws..plus they were a solid disk.๐ค
I also would like to know where to get the magnet fix.
What's the name of those magnets
Thanks
Could you place a link to buy these magnets? Thx ๐ค
So where can we purchase the magnets?
Where do you order these magnets from?
I really appreciate that video. I think we all go down the obsessive, and neurotic rabbit hole of repair. This is a great fix that did not have me wandering around a hardware store looking for something to hold something but not finding anything. Magnets, done. Thanks.
WHere online can I buy the magnetic screws you used in this video? thanks
Canโt thank you enough for sharing your tip and spending the time to be so detailed! Thank you ๐ again I will continue to follow. ๐
I open glove box and it springs back shut will not stay open. Any ideal how to fix?

I just drilled it shut lmao
