Asking because i have a big ole hole in my $1200 used car rocker panel (nothing structural and all the external body panel, currently), and welding seems like itll be more than what I got the car for:
Since you did this work, how has it held up? Did this help prevent rust spreading/getting deeper? The hole is pretty wide, but I plan on making some "bridging supports" (not foam) internally to help with application and from bowing/sagging. I dont need the car to last forever, but I dont want my next (hopefully actually nice) car purchase to be determined by when this car rusts apart.
I may also modify your painting advice here to freshen up the sun baked paint job the last owner left me with, it seems easier to do for "good enough" than what ive picked up from other videos. How has your paint job also held up, and if you ever got the paint corrected/polished? I'm ok with doing the painting piece meal, like one body panel/area at a time, to make it managable.
