I was just about to throw away two $1000 leather couches tomorrow, but then I saw your video. I am going to give your method a try! Only concern is matching the color. Is there a service that will take a couch sample and tell you the colors you need to buy and mix to make the color you need?

try applying wax paper to the repair after painting and smooth it out with a brush let it dry then remove wax the paper.
I got a huge sectional the other day and the entire thing is peeling. I thought I'd just fix it but literally the wntire couch is peeling bad bad. So my solution which may or may not be temporary is that I got a bunch of blue sheets from the good will and my upholstery staple gun and just stapled the sheets to the back of the couch and draped them over and tucked them in. It doesn't look pretty but my house is no longer covered in the little leather peels from the couch and we can now actually sit on it. The peeling all over the place was driving me crazy.

I threw away 2 perfectly good recliners that started to peel. I tried to give them away and no one would take them.
Planning to do this to some boots that are so comfortable that I can’t make myself throw them away.
The problem is it just starts to peel in a new spot…I hate this material and it is such a scam that takes advantage of all of us.
Confirm what you are buying folks, stay away from any Faux or Bonded leather.
Save yourself the headache and just buy something made of Fabric.
