This particular valve did not let any hot water flow. The problem could have been one of many others, limited cold water flow, dripping, or others.

I have been trying to figure out why my hot water is coming out first after replacing the shower knob…thank you for explaining what I need to do to ensure cold water comes out first!!
This was really an awesome posting, you took great time and explaining everything. I appreciate it, and it looks like everyone else here does as well!
This is the same model that I have, does anybody know the model number so I can match replacement parts for it? I'd appreciate it!
One question. Towards the end when you say if the water is not cold when you turn it on, to take the brass stem and turn 180°. It was OFF. You rotated 180° and it still stayed OFF. How was this possible? The main water lines were still ON yet no water came out when you rotated 180°. How? When I say OFF I mean no water is coming out of the faucet.
