How To Install A Google Nest Thermostat Yourself DIY In Less Than 30 Minutes & Check Compatability

How To Install A Google Nest Thermostat Yourself DIY In Less Than 30 Minutes & Check Compatability

I wanted to upgrade my thermostat to one that could help me save energy and that was also able to be controlled remotely with my phone. I settled on the Google Nest Thermostat as the best solution for me, and I show you how to install one in this video. The steps to install the Google Nest Thermostat are fairly simple and straightforward, and the whole process can be completed in less than 30 minutes. These instructions are for the Google Nest Thermostat only, and not for the Nest Thermostat E, or the Nest Learning Thermostat. The only tools you’ll need are a Phillips and a flat-head screwdriver, and the average homeowner will have no trouble doing the installation. I’m very happy with the Nest Thermostat and would highly recommend it. This is the Nest Thermostat 4th Generation that was first released in October 2020, Model G4CVZ.

  1. When are you going to tell us about the BLUE wire?

  2. I just got one of these Nest thermostats and about to install, but I only have 2 wires coming out of the wall, red and white, with a black jumper wire. The Nest install says it's not compatible. It's only for heat, no central AC here sadly.

Any ideas? Or am I SOL?

  3. Thanks for the video I'll be installing this one today I bought a sensei wifi thermostat and it turns on heat and ac at the same time the tech told me that happens with some wifi thermostats because they're sensitive…he suggested the Google nest so I hope I don't have issues with this one

  4. You covered everything except for what I needed and that’s how to get the app cause I’ve been looking for it and trying different things and nothing

  5. Thanks!! I listened at 50% playback speed. That was a tad slow, but it was better than listening at 75% playback speed!

  6. Do you not need to use the jumper wire

  7. Hello, how i connect it if i have 3 wires ?

  8. Super straightforward! Just 15 seconds into this vid gave me all the confidence I needed. 😎đŸ’Ē Now, if I can just get my hands on this Nest Trim Kit 🧐

  9. What in God's name would anyone want to replace their simple, easy to use thermostat with a Google Nest? Folks, don't do it. Trust me!

  10. Thank you for the video Stan!

  11. What do I do with the jumper. I have only 2 wires a white and a black. The black wire is probably the red wire and that one had the jumper on it. Do I put the jumper back or leave it off?

  12. What about the "jumper wire", the new setup didn't show the wiring to include the jumper wire.

  13. I don’t think I’d want a nest so Google can get on my damn nerves collecting data to serve me bull$hit ads I don’t care for.

  14. So what do you do with the jumper wire?

  15. Thanks for the video. I was going to give up, but your video gave me confidence to install it myself. Your clear instructions really helped. Thank you!

  16. just installed it and now it’s showing error n260 which is a c wire needed or nest power connector. Anyway around this error to not install any extra parts ?

  17. Hi Stan, did this Google not use the C wire ? With just battery, it was working normally with Wifi connection ? Please let me know. Thanks.

  18. I only have 3 wires coming out of the wall: blue and green are connected to the old thermostat, yellow is not connected to anything. Is this still going to work?

  19. Thanks very much! I just installed mine with your video.
